In Islam, the Quran is a holy book revealed to Prophet Muhammad SAW. It contains ‘Kalam e Rab’ (the speech of Allah) and encompasses a complete way of life for Muslims. The Quran is the only religious book proven by science, and its verses hold proof of some of the most astonishing mysteries in the world. Keeping this in mind, this blog will look at these magnificent verses and how they relate to the real world.
The Big Bang Theory
There is a scientific way of explaining the beginning of the universe. It states that the universe started from a single, dense, and extremely hot point. The Big Bang theory also states that the universe has stretched and cooled down over the past billion years, so life could occur.
It was confirmed by Arno A. Penzias, an American physicist and Nobel Prize winner, and Robert Woodrow Wilson, an American astronomer and Nobel Prize winner, when they discovered cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB).
In Surah Al-Anbya, Allah says that heaven and Earth were once joined, and he split them apart. The tafsir of this verse states that the heavens were joined so it didn’t rain, and the Earth was joined so nothing grew. When human beings were created to populate the Earth, rain came from the heavens, and vegetation grew on the Earth.
Water As Basis Of Life
According to Harvard University, water is the basis for all life because its adaptability and versatility help carry out vital reactions in any living organism. Moreover, Harvard University also says that no other molecule has the same unique ability to support life as water.
In Surah Al-Anbya, Allah says he created every living thing from water.
Formation of An Embryo
The formation of an embryo is the formation of life. This process begins when a sperm fertilizes a female egg. This fertilization creates a single cell called a zygote, which later divides and grows into an embryo. This embryo continues to develop, forming bones and flesh until it is ready to be born.
In verses 12, 13, and 14 of Surah Al Mu’minun, Allah SWT describes the formation of an embryo. Allah SWT states how he initially created Prophet Adam from the wet Earth, then placed each human as a sperm drop. The verses also state how the sperm drop is formed into bones and flesh until it becomes another creation.
Sky As A Protector
From providing us with the oxygen needed to breathe to protecting us from UV rays, the atmosphere, i.e., the sky, plays a crucial role in our lives. Whether it is maintaining the temperature of the Earth or balancing the pressure due to which water is found on our planet, the sky has got it all covered.
In the Quran, Allah SWT says that he has made the sky a roof withheld from us. Different translations state that this verse also means the sky is a well-protected canopy.
Cloud Formation
Cloud formation is a process that starts with evaporation in water bodies such as oceans and rivers. After this, the water vapors go up in the air and condense, forming clouds. This process was discovered around 200 years ago, but the Quran told us about it 1400+ years ago.
In the 24th ayah of Surah Al-Noor, it is stated that Allah SWT brings the clouds together, then gathers them into a mass, and after that, the rain emerges from it. In the verse, Allah SWT also says that he sends mountains of clouds from the sky, and these clouds contain hail. And he strikes with it whoever he wishes and averts the hail from whoever he wishes.
Conflux Of Seas
A natural phenomenon where two different bodies of water meet but don’t mix because of their distinct characteristics, such as density, salinity, and temperature, is termed conflux.
An example of this is the Rio Negro and Solimoes rivers in Brazil, where the tan-colored waters of the Solimoes meet the black waters of the Rio Negro.
In Surah Rahman, verses 19 and 20, Allah SWT says that he merges the two bodies of fresh salt and water, yet they never cross the barrier between them.
Reflection Of Moon’s Light
Since the moon is a lump of rock in space, it has no light. The light that shines from the moon is the sun’s light, which hits the moon and illuminates it so we can see it.
In Surah Yunus, Allah SWT says that he is the one who made the sun a source of light and the moon a body that reflects light.
Iron From Meteorites
Iron is one of the most abundant elements on Earth, but it isn’t from here. Iron is formed when elements in stars undergo fusion. The iron found on Earth came millions of years ago in the form of meteorites after a large explosion of stars called the supernova.
In the 25th ayah of Surah Al-Hadid, Allah SWT says that he sent down iron with its great strength and benefits for humanity.
The Big Crunch Theory
The big crunch theory is a hypothetical scenario for the ending of the universe, in which the universe’s expansion eventually reverses, and the universe ends.
In 21:104, Allah SWT says that he will roll up the heavens like a ‘scroll of writings,” and just as he produced the first creation, he will reproduce it again.
The Phenomenon of Sirius
Sirius, also called the ‘dog star’, has been the brightest star in the earth’s sky for an extensive period. This star was discovered by German astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel in 1844. Bessel also stated that Sirius is a binary star system with its counterpart, Sirius B.
In Surah Al-Najm, verse 49th, Allah SWT mentions Sirius by name and says, “And He (i.e., Allah SWT) alone is the Lord of Sirius.”
Bees Producing Honey
According to scientific discoveries, there are two kinds of bees: female bees produce honey from the pollen and nectar they collect on their bodies. And the male bees, whose only purpose is to reproduce with the queen.
In Surah Al-Nahl, meaning honeybee, Allah SWT says, “he inspired the bees to make their homes in the mountains, in the trees, and in what the people construct.”
Pain Receptors In Skin
Nociceptors, also called pain receptors, are sensory receptors that respond to potentially damaging stimuli. These nociceptors play a crucial role in alerting the body to potential harm. Sir Charles Scott Sherrington discovered them in 1906. But the Quran told us about 1400+ years ago.
Although the Quran doesn’t directly mention pain receptors in the verse, it states that the skin can feel pain. In the 56th verse of Surah Nisa, Allah SWT says that whoever rejects his signs will throw them into fire. And whenever their skin burns due to the heat, he will replace it so that the disbelievers constantly feel the pain. And indeed, Allah is Almighty and All-wise.
Internal Ocean Waves
The internal ocean waves are the undersea equivalent of what we see on the ocean’s surface. They play a crucial role in transferring heat and momentum inside the ocean. They also play a key role in maintaining marine life and the climate worldwide.
Internal ocean waves have been a topic of interest for scientists throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, and there has been much research done on the subject, one of the most recent being conducted in 2022
In 24:40 in the Quran, Allah SWT states that the sins of the disbelievers and the hypocrites, including those who do good deeds for ostentation, are like darkness in an unfathomable sea that is covered by waves upon waves above, which are clouds, layers of darkness, one above the other. And one puts his hand forth; he can’t see it because of the darkness, and the one to whom Allah doesn’t give light has no light at all.
The Prefrontal Cortex
The prefrontal cortex (PFC), located on the backside of the forehead, is responsible for most of our highest cognitive abilities. The PFC controls functions such as concentration, planning, and retrieving memories. The study of this part was advanced in 1848 when Phineas Gage survived a severe injury to the brain.
The PFC is mentioned in two verses in the Quran. The 15th and 16th verses of Surah Alaq state, while describing the punishment of the wrongdoers, that if they don’t renounce their discord and obstinacy, then Allah will drag them by their forelock, which is a lying and sinning forelock. The words sinning and lying are used in this verse because the PFC is responsible for making decisions, including lying and sinning.
Starlight In The Sky
Stars produce light through fusion reactions. In the stars’ core, hydrogen atoms fuse together to form helium, releasing a massive amount of energy. This energy illuminates the stars and makes them shine.
The 12th verse of Surah Fussilat states that Allah SWT adorned the lowest heaven with lamps (i.e., stars) for beauty and protection. This verse describes the stars as lamps, meaning they produce light independently, contrary to the belief that stars only reflect light.
Gender Discrimination By Sperm
Since the female only has XX chromosomes, each egg contains an X chromosome. However, since the male has both XY chromosomes, the gender of the baby is dependent on the sperm that fertilizes the egg. This discovery was made in 1905 by Nettie M. Stevens when he used beetles and found odd chromosomes in them, later termed the sex chromosomes.
In 53:45 and 46 of the Quran, Allah states that he creates the pairs (i.e., males and females) from a sperm-drop when it is produced.
Underground Water Sources
Underground water sources have been a topic of interest for scientists for many years. Many discoveries have been made regarding underground water sources. Water exists within the earth’s center, from underground springs to hidden oceans.
In the 21st verse of Surah Az-Zumar, it is stated that Allah sends the rain from the sky and channels it through streams in the earth. This ayah continues onward. Still, this section of the verse indicates that water originates in the sky and then travels towards the inner earth through soil absorption.
The Planets and Stars
Stars are huge celestial bodies that emit light through fusion reactions. Planets are celestial bodies that orbit around the sun. They can’t produce their own light, so they reflect the light of the stars.
The clear distinction between these two celestial bodies was made in the mid-17th century. But this distinction was made in the Quran around 1400+ years ago. In the 3rd verse of Surah Tariq, Allah states that a star of piercing brightness.
Orbits Of Celestial Bodies
All planets and the moon have their orbits. Planets revolve around the sun, while the moon revolves around its planets. This discovery was made in 1610 by Galileo when he observed the phases of Venus.
Surah Al-Anbya, verse 33rd, states that Allah was the one who created the night and the day, including the sun and the moon, each in an orbit, floating (i.e., revolving).
The Black Hole’s Shape
Scientists describe the shape of the black hole as an oblate shape. It is wide at the start and then gradually narrows as it reaches the point of singularity (a point of infinite gravity where nothing can escape, not even light). Black holes were first discovered in the 18th century, and the discovery of their shape has been an ongoing study since then.
In Surah An Najm, verse 14 states at the lote tree, in the seventh heaven. The shape of a lote tree is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom. This shape resembles the modern view of the shape of the black hole.
Mountains Stabilizing The Earth’s Crust
The modern plate tectonics theory states that mountains act as a stabilizer for the earth. This process uses the mountains’ gravitational stress to produce the rock material’s flow, which creates equilibrium.
In 78:6–7 in the Quran, Allah states that he smoothed out the earth like a bed and made mountains as its pegs.
The Quran is a book full of miracles. It hints at many discoveries ahead of its time that couldn’t have been known by the Prophet Muhammad SAW, thus proving the text’s origin from Allah SWT.
I like this app because it nice for muslim ☪️
