The Quran serves as a living guide for all Muslims. It comprises many Surahs that protect an individual from harm and assist in gaining the pleasure of Allah. One of such Surahs is Surah Mulk. Surah Mulk, or Surah al-Mulk, is the 67th chapter of the Quran. It usually translates to “sovereignty” or “kingdom. The theme of this Surah centers around gaining Allah’s love by committing good deeds and emphasizes how everything in the universe belongs to Allah.
Prophet Muhammad PBUH About Surah Mulk
In a hadith, Ibn Abbas RA narrated that one of the companions of the Prophet PBUH unknowingly pitched a tent on a grave. Suddenly, he heard a person recite Surah Mulk from the grave. So the companion went to the Prophet PBUH and told him about it. Hearing this, the Prophet PBUH replied that it is the defender, it is the deliverer and it delivers from the punishment of the grave. In another narration, the Prophet PBUH said that certainly there is a Surah in the Quran of thirty ayat that intercedes for a man until he is forgiven and it is Surah Tabarak Alladhi Biyadihil-Mulk. [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2891]
Importance Of Surah Mulk
Surah Mulk is a miraculous Surah. It protects and defends man in the grave. Surah Mulk intercedes on behalf of man until he is forgiven and gives salvation from the torment of the grave. Not only does Surah Mulk act as a protector, but it also helps increase good deeds and assists in gaining the pleasure of Allah.
Can I Read Surah Mulk After Maghrib?
One gets the virtue of reciting Surah Mulk when one recites it at night, meaning after sunset. Therefore, if a person recites Surah Mulk after Maghrib, it will be considered reciting it at night. Many people recite Surah Mulk after Isha because the Isha prayer is the last of the day. But even if one doesn’t recite it in any prayer, one will benefit from it nonetheless.

تَبٰرَكَ الَّذِیْ بِیَدِهِ الْمُلْكُ٘- وَ هُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَیْءٍ قَدِیْرُﰳ الَّذِیْ خَلَقَ الْمَوْتَ وَ الْحَیٰوةَ لِیَبْلُوَكُمْ اَیُّكُمْ اَحْسَنُ عَمَلًاؕ-وَ هُوَ الْعَزِیْزُ الْغَفُوْرُ الَّذِیْ خَلَقَ سَبْعَ سَمٰوٰتٍ طِبَاقًاؕ-مَا تَرٰى فِیْ خَلْقِ الرَّحْمٰنِ مِنْ تَفٰوُتٍؕ-فَارْجِـعِ الْبَصَرَۙ-هَلْ تَرٰى مِنْ فُطُوْرٍ ثُمَّ ارْجِـعِ الْبَصَرَ كَرَّتَیْنِ یَنْقَلِبْ اِلَیْكَ الْبَصَرُ خَاسِئًا وَّ هُوَ حَسِیْرٌ وَ لَقَدْ زَیَّنَّا السَّمَآءَ الدُّنْیَا بِمَصَابِیْحَ وَ جَعَلْنٰهَا رُجُوْمًا لِّلشَّیٰطِیْنِ وَ اَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابَ السَّعِیْرِ وَ لِلَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا بِرَبِّهِمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَؕ-وَ بِئْسَ الْمَصِیْرُ اِذَاۤ اُلْقُوْا فِیْهَا سَمِعُوْا لَهَا شَهِیْقًا وَّ هِیَ تَفُوْرُ تَكَادُ تَمَیَّزُ مِنَ الْغَیْظِؕ-كُلَّمَاۤ اُلْقِیَ فِیْهَا فَوْجٌ سَاَلَهُمْ خَزَنَتُهَاۤ اَلَمْ یَاْتِكُمْ نَذِیْرٌ قَالُوْا بَلٰى قَدْ جَآءَنَا نَذِیْرٌ ﳔ فَكَذَّبْنَا وَ قُلْنَا مَا نَزَّلَ اللّٰهُ مِنْ شَیْءٍ ۚۖ-اِنْ اَنْتُمْ اِلَّا فِیْ ضَلٰلٍ كَبِیْرٍ وَ قَالُوْا لَوْ كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ اَوْ نَعْقِلُ مَا كُنَّا فِیْۤ اَصْحٰبِ السَّعِیْرِ فَاعْتَرَفُوْا بِذَنْۢبِهِمْۚ-فَسُحْقًا لِّاَصْحٰبِ السَّعِیْرِ اِنَّ الَّذِیْنَ یَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ بِالْغَیْبِ لَهُمْ مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَّ اَجْرٌ كَبِیْرٌ وَ اَسِرُّوْا قَوْلَكُمْ اَوِ اجْهَرُوْا بِهٖؕ-اِنَّهٗ عَلِیْمٌۢ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُوْرِ اَلَا یَعْلَمُ مَنْ خَلَقَؕ-وَ هُوَ اللَّطِیْفُ الْخَبِیْرُ
هُوَ الَّذِیْ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْاَرْضَ ذَلُوْلًا فَامْشُوْا فِیْ مَنَاكِبِهَا وَ كُلُوْا مِنْ رِّزْقِهٖؕ-وَ اِلَیْهِ النُّشُوْرُ ءَاَمِنْتُمْ مَّنْ فِی السَّمَآءِ اَنْ یَّخْسِفَ بِكُمُ الْاَرْضَ فَاِذَا هِیَ تَمُوْرُ اَمْ اَمِنْتُمْ مَّنْ فِی السَّمَآءِ اَنْ یُّرْسِلَ عَلَیْكُمْ حَاصِبًاؕ-فَسَتَعْلَمُوْنَ كَیْفَ نَذِیْرِ وَ لَقَدْ كَذَّبَ الَّذِیْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ فَكَیْفَ كَانَ نَكِیْرِ اَوَ لَمْ یَرَوْا اِلَى الطَّیْرِ فَوْقَهُمْ صٰٓفّٰتٍ وَّ یَقْبِضْنَﰉ مَا یُمْسِكُهُنَّ اِلَّا الرَّحْمٰنُؕ-اِنَّهٗ بِكُلِّ شَیْءٍۭ بَصِیْرٌ اَمَّنْ هٰذَا الَّذِیْ هُوَ جُنْدٌ لَّكُمْ یَنْصُرُكُمْ مِّنْ دُوْنِ الرَّحْمٰنِؕ-اِنِ الْكٰفِرُوْنَ اِلَّا فِیْ غُرُوْرٍ اَمَّنْ هٰذَا الَّذِیْ یَرْزُقُكُمْ اِنْ اَمْسَكَ رِزْقَهٗۚ-بَلْ لَّجُّوْا فِیْ عُتُوٍّ وَّ نُفُوْرٍ اَفَمَنْ یَّمْشِیْ مُكِبًّا عَلٰى وَجْهِهٖۤ اَهْدٰۤى اَمَّنْ یَّمْشِیْ سَوِیًّا عَلٰى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِیْمٍ قُلْ هُوَ الَّذِیْۤ اَنْشَاَ كُمْ وَ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ السَّمْعَ وَ الْاَبْصَارَ وَ الْاَفْـٕدَةَؕ-قَلِیْلًا مَّا تَشْكُرُوْنَ
قُلْ هُوَ الَّذِیْ ذَرَاَكُمْ فِی الْاَرْضِ وَ اِلَیْهِ تُحْشَرُوْنَ وَ یَقُوْلُوْنَ مَتٰى هٰذَا الْوَعْدُ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِیْنَ قُلْ اِنَّمَا الْعِلْمُ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ۪-وَ اِنَّمَاۤ اَنَا نَذِیْرٌ مُّبِیْنٌ فَلَمَّا رَاَوْهُ زُلْفَةً سِیْٓــٴَـتْ وُجُوْهُ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا وَ قِیْلَ هٰذَا الَّذِیْ كُنْتُمْ بِهٖ تَدَّعُوْنَ قُلْ اَرَءَیْتُمْ اِنْ اَهْلَكَنِیَ اللّٰهُ وَ مَنْ مَّعِیَ اَوْ رَحِمَنَاۙ-فَمَنْ یُّجِیْرُ الْكٰفِرِیْنَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ اَلِیْمٍ قُلْ هُوَ الرَّحْمٰنُ اٰمَنَّا بِهٖ وَ عَلَیْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَاۚ-فَسَتَعْلَمُوْنَ مَنْ هُوَ فِیْ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِیْنٍ قُلْ اَرَءَیْتُمْ اِنْ اَصْبَحَ مَآؤُكُمْ غَوْرًا فَمَنْ یَّاْتِیْكُمْ بِمَآءٍ مَّعِیْنٍ
Surah Mulk Transliteration
Tabaarakal lazee biyadihil mulku wa huwa ‘alaa kulli shai-in qadeer Allazee khalaqal mawta walhayaata liyabluwakum ayyukum ahsanu ‘amalaa; wa huwal ‘azeezul ghafoor Allazee khalaqa sab’a samaawaatin tibaaqam maa taraa fee khalqir rahmaani min tafaawut farji’il basara hal taraa min futoor Summar ji’il basara karrataini yanqalib ilaikal basaru khaasi’anw wa huwa haseer Wa laqad zaiyannas samaaa’ad dunyaa bimasaa beeha wa ja’alnaahaa rujoomal lish shayaateeni wa a’tadnaa lahum ‘azaabas sa’eer Wa lillazeena kafaroo bi rabbihim ‘azaabu jahannama wa bi’sal maseer Izaaa ulqoo feehaa sami’oo lahaa shaheeqanw wa hiya tafoor Takaadu tamayyazu minal ghaizz kullamaaa ulqiya feehaa fawjun sa alahum khazanatuhaaa alam ya’tikum nazeer
Qaaloo balaa qad jaaa’anaa nazeerun fakazzabnaa wa qulnaa maa nazzalal laahu min shai in in antum illaa fee dalaalin kabeer Wa qaaloo law kunnaa nasma’u awna’qilu maa kunnaa feee as haabis sa’eer Fa’tarafoo bizambihim fasuhqal li as haabis sa’eer Innal lazeena yakhshawna rabbahum bilghaibi lahum maghfiratunw wa ajrun kabeer Wa asirroo qawlakum awijharoo bih; innahoo ‘aleemum bizaatis sudoor Alaa ya’lamu man khalaqa wa huwal lateeful khabeer Huwal lazee ja’ala lakumul arda zaloolan famshoo fee manaakibihaa wa kuloo mir rizqih; wa ilaihin nushoor ‘A-amintum man fissamaaa’i aiyakhsifa bi kumul arda fa izaa hiya tamoor Am amintum man fissamaaa’i ai yursila ‘alaikum haasiban fasata’lamoona kaifa nazeer Wa laqad kazzabal lazeena min qablihim fakaifa kaana nakeer Awalam yaraw ilat tairi fawqahum saaaffaatinw wa yaqbidn; maa yumsikuhunna il’lar rahmaan; innahoo bikulli shai in baseer Amman haazal lazee huwa jundul lakum yansurukum min doonir rahmaan; inilkaafiroona illaa fee ghuroor Amman haazal lazee yarzuqukum in amsaka rizqah; bal lajjoo fee ‘utuwwinw wa nufoor Afamai yamshee mukibban ‘alaa wajhihee ahdaaa ammany yamshee sawiyyan ‘alaa siratim mustaqeem
Qul huwal lazee ansha akum wa ja’ala lakumus sam’a wal absaara wal af’idata qaleelam maa tashkuroon Qul huwal lazee zara akum fil ardi wa ilaihi tuhsharoon Wa yaqooloona mataa haazal wa’du in kuntum saadiqeen Qul innamal ‘ilmu ‘indallaahi wa innamaaa ana nazeerum mubeen Falaammaa ra-awhu zulfatan seee’at wujoohul lazeena kafaroo wa qeela haazal lazee kuntum bihee tadda’oon Qul ara’aytum in ahlaka niyal laahu wa mam ma’iya aw rahimanaa famai-yujeerul kaafireena min ‘azaabin aleem Qul huwar rahmaanu aamannaa bihee wa ‘alaihi tawakkalnaa fasata’lamoona man huwa fee dalaalim mubeen Qul ara’aytum in asbaha maaa’ukum ghawran famai ya’teekum bimaaa’im ma’een
