In Islam, dates hold a significant position both for their nutritional benefits and their role in religious traditions. They are present in every Muslim household all year round, but especially during Ramadan, as the Prophet PBUH often broke his fast with dates. Significance of Dates In Islam

Islam places great emphasis on dates. Date palm has been mentioned 22 times in the Quran, which is more than any other fruit-bearing plant.

In Surah An-Nahl, verse 16, Allah SWT states that “he produces for his creation various crops like olives, date palms, grapevines and every type of fruit. Surely, this is a sign for those who reflect. “

In 23:19 of the Quran, Allah SWT states that he produced for mankind, gardens of date palms and grapevines, in which there are abundant fruits, and from which mankind may eat.”

In a hadith, the Prophet PBUH stated that “whoever takes some Ajwa dates in the morning won’t be affected by poison or magic till the night.” [Sahih al-Bukhari, 5768]

Anas bin Malik narrated that “the Prophet PBUH used to break his fast with fresh dates before performing the Salat. If there were no fresh dates available, he would use dried dates, and if no dried dates were available, he would take a few sips of water.” [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 696]

In another hadith, the Prophet Muhammad PBUH said, “There is a tree among the trees that is similar to a Muslim (in goodness) and that is the date palm tree.” [Sahih al-Bukhari, 5448]

Improved Digestive Health

In Surah Maryam, Allah tells Maryam AS to “shake the trunk of the date tree towards her, and it will drop fresh and ripe dates upon her.” The tafsir of this ayah states that Amr bin Maryam said that nothing is better for the women confined in childbed than dried and fresh dates, and then he recited this noble ayah.
